Badlands OOTD and Concert Experience

My final summer hurrah before heading back to Gettysburg for senior year was a trip into Manhattan with my nuggz Brianna (check out her blog here) to see Halsey play the final stop of her Badlands tour at Madison Square garden.

I wanted an outfit that was going to be cute and comfy, so I chose to wear a rust colored ribbed t-shirt dress and low wedges. I also wanted a bag that wasn’t big and bulky, so I went for my cherry red Michael Kors crossbody bag.

Dress: Forever 21
Shoes: Payless
Bag: Michael Kors (no longer available)
Sunglasses: Francesca’s (no longer available)

The show itself was phenomenal. It had been over a year since I had last seen Halsey perform, so I was super excited to have the chance to see her play the last show of the Badlands tour. She puts so much passion into each performance – so much so that when the visuals weren’t working three songs in, she restarted the whole show! (I’m not complaining; I got to hear Gasoline live twice in one night) Watching what is quite possibly my favorite album ever come alive before me was a magical thing to witness. I have never screamed lyrics louder or felt more at home at a concert before. She also brought out the Chainsmokers as a special guest to perform their single Closer, which turned the whole arena into a rave for four minutes or so. She also closed the show with Young God, the last song off of her album. It was the perfect closure to the end of the Badlands era. Visiting the Badlands at Madison Square Garden was something that I will never forget.

The Perfect Nude Lip

I am a huge dark lipstick fan – there is nothing I love more than a purple lip! However, I have been on the hunt for a great nude lipstick, because it was a missing piece to my lipstick collection. A nude lip is so classic and I’ve been trying to build out all of my different makeup looks, so finding this nude lipstick was important to me. After months of searching, I have found my perfect nude: Soap & Glory Sexy Motherpucker Lipstick in Cinnamon Beige.

This lipstick goes on so rich and creamy, but it feels weightless. The shade is slightly darker than my lips, but as a dark lipstick lover it I wouldn’t want my nude lipstick to be any lighter. Honestly, when I bought it I was expecting this shade to be a little darker! To have discovered my perfect nude by accident was a great bonus, so I’m a happy camper. At only $12, it’s a great deal! You can buy it at Ulta here.

What’s your favorite nude lipstick? Let me know in the comments below!

Maybelline Color Jolt

If you know me, you know one of my favorite past times is shopping for new lipsticks. So when my nuggz Brianna texted me swatches she found online of the new Maybelline Color Jolt lip paints, I knew I had to have them. They just came out, so we were skeptical that we’d be able to find them while out shopping. Luckily, CVS came through in the clutch and had a display of them tucked away in a corner, which I promptly shrieked about. I decided to get two colors: 05 – Stripped Down and 35 – Berry Naughty. I chose them because they seemed to be colors that were filling in the gaps of my collection; the nude was different from other nudes I had and my collection was lacking in a deep berry.

I swatched these as soon as I came home, because I was impatient as can be to see what they looked like. I have to say, these smell AMAZING. I wasn’t expecting it, so that was a nice bonus. They glided on really easily, and the applicator was soft and felt amazing on the skin.

I tested out Stripped Down the next day for work. Though it takes a bit of time to dry, once this is on it really doesn’t budge. While I refreshed it after lunchtime, I totally could have let it be and still would have looked great. I loved how it worked for a natural look! It definitely filled the gap that I was looking to fill in my makeup bag.

Final Verdict: Buy. This. Lipstick!

Latest Loves: My Etsy Wishlist

My name is Angela and I’m an Etsy addict. There is something about discovering a new shop that is just so exciting! I’ve always been big on giving unique gifts and having one-of-a-kind pieces, so I spend waaaaaaay more time browsing Etsy than I should. Here’s what’s currently sitting in my cart, waiting for me to have one of my impulsive buying sprees.

coffeecard

I am a stationary fiend, and there is nothing I love more than finding out I have mail in my mailbox! I try to keep a collection of cards on hand to send out to my friends, so this Coffee & Wine Card from Cat Coquillette caught my eye! This shop is full of beautiful cards, prints, and totes, and they’re totally affordable. Consider me obsessed.

coffeecup.jpg

As a former ceramics nerd, I fell in love with Silishop. This Geometric Black & Yellow Porcelain Coffee Cup and Saucer caught my eye. While a little pricey, each piece is made by hand, so I think it would be worth it. Since I’m having a little studio apartment at school next year, I’d love to get a set of these to have for when someone comes over to study or for a good gossip session.

candle

I’ve always wanted to be a candle person, and BON LUX makes me want to be one even more! Based out of Melbourne, where I spent my time abroad, each candle is hand-poured and comes in the cutest packaging! I’m coveting the Asleep in the Clouds one, which smells like lemon zest, gardenia, jasmine, and violet.

mousepad

As I’m interning this summer, I’ve been on the hunt for cute office supplies. This “Like A Boss” mousepad from Field Trip. At only $12, it’s affordable and most likely finding its spot on my desk this summer. After all, who couldn’t use a little extra motivation when 4pm rolls around and you’ve still got an hour of work left to go?

necklace

I’m trying to expand my jewelry collection this summer and have been on the hunt for statement necklaces. I love this Pastel Wooden Geometric Necklace from the Austrian shop Belle Accessories. Each piece is hand-painted, which I think is really wonderful. I’d love to snag a few of this shop’s fun, geometric pieces of jewelry.

Do you have an Etsy wishlist? What unique pieces are you looking to find for summer?

City Color Highlight Trio

IMG_0271

My latest beauty obsession has been the City Color Highlight Trio, which I got in my April ipsy bag. I had never heard of City Color before getting my ipsy bag, but I was majorly surprised by how much I liked it! They’re a cruelty-free company, which is always a plus in my books. The Highlight Trio retails for $8.99 and is available in two different sets of colors. I have Collection #1, which has a gold, a beige, and a rose gold highlighter. These are so silky and pigmented; you don’t need a lot to make an impact. As I’ve been trying to expand and up my makeup game recently, this has been a huge help. It’s really allowed me to build up a natural, beautiful glow and highlight. I use it on the tops of my cheekbones and my nose, but people more experienced with highlighters can also use it on their forehead and chin for a more intense highlight.

My takeaway: this is a great, inexpensive highlighter. While it might not be a dupe for some of the higher end products, it’s a great beginner highlighter palette.

#ChooseToSmooth This Spring

Spring has sprung down here in Gettysburg and that can only mean one thing… it’s sundress season! Lucky for me, I recieved the Glam VoxBox free from Influenster and I got some great shaving tools to help me get ready for months of bare legs.

My new goodies!

I recieved the Gillette Venus Embrace Sensitive Razors and Olay Vanilla Cashmere Shave Gel. The razors are so fantastic for girls like me with really sensitive skin, because they have a gentle touch. They also get in every nook and cranny, so you aren’t noticing random patches of hair by your knees when you’re out and about! The shaving gel smells absolutely amazing and is super moisturizing, so much so that I haven’t even needed to put on lotion after my shower. I love products that can do double-duty, so I’ll definitely be getting more of this.

Are you ready for sundress season? If so, you should #ChooseToSmooth with Gillette 😉

Glam VoxBox Review

Hey friends! Long time no chat, this semester has been WAY busier than I ever anticipated. But alas, that is life.

Recently, I received the Glam VoxBox from Influenster. If you don’t know what Influenster is, it’s an awesome program where you receive products to test out for companies in exchange for an honest review. Want more details? Drop me an email at angelamarieparr@gmail.com and we can chat about it! So that being said, let’s get into my opinions on the products!

The Gillette Venus Embrace Sensitive Razors and Olay Vanilla Cashmere Shave Gel were lovely. They really got into all the curves of my legs to get a close shave. However, a full review of those will be coming at a later date!

Real talk: my name is Angela and I am a dry shampoo addict. Not Your Mother’s Clean Freak Dry Shampoo was a game changer for me. It smelt great, got the job done, and didn’t leave my hair feeling heavy with product the way some dry shampoos do. 10/10 would highly recommend.

As some of you may know, I recently stopped an eight-year habit of biting my nails. In order to keep myself in check, I’ve been painting them and getting manicures so that the temptation doesn’t come back. So when I saw the Cutex Advanced Revival Nail Polish Remover Padsit was like a gift sent from heaven. They actually do work – one pack will get all the polish off of your nails – and they are so easy to use. I’ll definitely be getting more of these.

The Q-Tips Precision Tips are basically Q-Tips designed with the beauty junkie in mind! They’re great for touching up sharp edges. I’ve been using them to make sure my lipstick doesn’t stray outside of my lips and also to catch and wipe up excess eye shadow that falls off.

Lastly, there was an assortment of Shea Moisture samples from their Raw Shea Butter facial care line. They were really hydrating and my skin felt super healthy after using them. I’d highly recommend giving the line a try!

Jingle VoxBox Review

Hey friends! As you may or may not know, I am a member of the product testing website Influenster. It is such a cool site – in exchange for great free products, you give them an honest review and provide feedback. It’s a win-win in my book. Interested in signing up? Message me!

Back in December, I recieved their Jingle Voxbox, which was a coop box instead of a brand-specific box. These ones are so fun, because you get to try out such a wide variety of products!

My Jingle Voxbox and all the goodies!

The first product wasn’t actually a product itself, but a coupon to try out any Ore-Ida product for free. I picked up tater tots, which were absolutely delicious. I typically go for store brand French fries, so it was nice to mix it up and try something new.

The next product in this box was Biscoff biscuits. These were super tasty and tasted amazing when dipped in my afternoon cup of coffee! I can definitely see them becoming a part of my regular snacking routine.

Moving away from food, I got one of the new Hallmark Itty Bittys. This is Olaf from their Frozen collection. I thought that this was cute, but it wasn’t really for me. As a 20 year old, I’m not really looking to add any kid-themed products to my life haha. I’ll definitely pass it along to one of my younger cousins though!

Now onto beauty! This Pure Ice nail polish came just in time, as I’ve recently stopped biting my nails and I’m trying to keep them polished so that I don’t go back to biting them. This shade, called Shore Bet, is a super cute neutral that I’ve really been loving.

The NYC 24 Hour City Proof Eyeliner, however, was not a huge hit with me. While it was great for smudging into my waterline, it didn’t do much else for me. It was a little chalky, and you really had to apply a lot of pressure to get any substantial color out of it.

Lastly, I got some super cute lashes and adhesive from Kiss. Now I have never been a huge fake eyelash person, but I am super excited to test these ones out. They seem really simple to apply for a dramatic effect, so I plan on using these next Friday when I have to get dressed up for an event here at Gettysburg! I’ll report back on how they work out!

Red Lip Classic

I recently have discovered my new favorite red lipstick: MAC Lipstick in Russian Red. It’s a velvet matte color that goes on feeling so rich, and I didn’t have to reapply at all! I paired it with a very neutral eye so that it could be the star, which is a look that I absolutely adore. Red lips are so chic, but people don’t do them for every day often. Yes, I definitely got a few stares when I walked into my 10am Congress class all dolled up, but who cares? I felt great all day because of my lipstick. I’m so in love with it – it’s going to be my go-to red lip color from now on.
